What is Ethical Manufacturing?

Ethical manufacturing is a holistic approach to the manufacturing process that focuses on a product’s design, creation, and use while maintaining sustainable standards. The intent is that the item and the process of making the item has a positive impact on the community and the environment.

An ethical manufacturer keeps this in mind and does not engage with vendors, suppliers or partners that do not share this vision. The manufacturer has oversight and cares about each section of their business and their own supply chain, prioritizing the well-being of both customers and staff, as well as the environment in which they work, shop, and source materials.

Ethical businesses want to operate in the best interest of workers. The health and happiness of staff are paramount. The legal standard is not enough. An ethical business will do what is right, not simply what is required. This means that safety is not sacrificed, and workers are treated fairly.

Ethical production can include but is not limited to material and energy use. Is renewable energy used as part of the manufacturing process? Are materials recycled or are products designed to minimize the amount of waste produced in manufacturing? How the production process is designed is critical to the overall production process and ensuring that waste is minimized.

This is key for many manufacturing businesses in a world where there is more and more focus on the environment. The days of polluting the environment without regard for financial gain is no more. On top of harmful manufacturing practices and ingredients, most products are excessively packaged in thick plastics and other materials which are not easily recycled and continue to burden landfills.

This is where Joya Flor products stand above the rest. Our products all ethically manufactured, sustainably sourced, packaged in biodegradable FSC paper based packaging and priced at a reasonable price compared to the competition. To learn more, visit our eCommerce store at www.joyaflor.com.
